Performance Transportation Services (PTS) might have put your new car on the road before you did -- the company transports motor vehicles throughout the US and in Canada. Customers include North America's leading auto manufacturers. The company is the second-leading player in the US car-hauling industry, behind Allied Systems Holdings. PTS has been assembled from acquisitions, including those of E&L Transport, Hadley Auto Transport, and Leaseway Auto Carrier Group. Overall, the PTS fleet includes some 1,800 tractor-trailer combinations, which are operated from about 30 terminals. With backing from investment firm Yucaipa Companies, PTS emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2007.
